Alkalurops is an independent sound-and-picture laboratory. We build live performance systems, real-time visual rigs, and performance-ready tools designed to give artists total control on stage.

Behind the name
Behind the name
Alkalurops is a real star, set in the constellation Boötes, the Herdsman. Its name comes from the Greek for a herdsman's staff. For us it is that staff: the thing we carry and the heading we follow as we steer toward what live performance can become.
Frank Herbert gave the star a planet, Ix, a world of makers. Alkalurops treats the machine as an instrument: it follows the artist's hands and the room, and never stands in for them.

Live performance tools should be open, accessible, and resilient. The core is Apache 2.0. Artists and developers who want live visuals on stage are invited to collaborate.
